Engagement of Conflict
As a photographer, social media had always played an important role in my life in showcasing my works. In my third semester, I joined the marketing and communications ExEd as I wanted to explore a different use of the platforms – one that is more official and demanding to challenge myself in expanding my creativity and creating new contents. With my previously extensive use of the media, I also thought it would be beneficial to turn my interest into profession and help the school connect with others outside it.
Homelessness has always been one of the biggest problems in Thailand. It is a usual sight to find the community living on the streets or under bridges. I became interested in the homeless shelter as the concept is not as widely known of in my country and I had never before thought about the problem in details. With this, I decided to join the Casa de Samaritan Homeless Shelter to explore it more.
In my first semester, I realized that I had not been as engaged with the school activities as much as I wanted. There were many events that I had not been keeping up with and a lot of times had to rely on my peers to inform me about them. To drive myself to become more active in the field, I decided to become part of the organizing team and joined the CEC event planning ExEd in my second semester.
When I asked my roomie what the CEC Retreat was, the only answer I received was that she could not tell as it would be better for me to experience it myself. Therefore, as the buses pulled up at the Glorieta Camp, I had no idea what to expect out of it. I also had been busy with school work that the weekend that the thought of having my weekend taken away was a little frustrating. Nonetheless, I decided to use the opportunity to ponder more on my work and to hopefully also get inspired to new ideas.
